About Us
The Evolution of the D.D.C., and the changes to our Name
With the move to our new office, 2177 S. Millard Ave., we had the opportunity to address old problems with new dedication. We at the D.D.C.O.C. will take this opportunity to refocus our energy on the original reason we came together. Our new name will be the Digital Development Corporation / North Lawndale Digital Job Training Program. We will be rededicating ourselves to the original mission statement..."Every Man, Woman, and Child should have a computer in their home, and that computer have access to the Internet". Also, the changing of the name of the job training program, from the Congressman Danny K. Davis Job Training Program to the North Lawndale Digital Job Training Program, should by no means be seen as a slight to our beloved Congressman. The name was changed to reflect the broader goal of serving the community.
To further illustrate this attitude change we at the D.D.C. have moved to new offices. We are now located at 2177 S. Millard Ave. Chicago IL., 60623. The North Lawndale Digital Job Training Program is now holding it's class at the Blessed Sacrament Youth Center. 3600 W. Cermak Rd. Chicago IL., 60623. The North Lawndale Digital Job Training Program will emphasize computer literacy. The eight (8) week course will teach the students how to remove Viruses, how to install components, and allow students to build their own computers. The students that finish the course will be empowered with capacity to never want for a job. Each students will be able to further continue their education, to reach their goals.
As we live through this debilitating recession, only experienced by our grandparents and great-grand parents, we should stop looking for the so-called government Stimulus Package and start creating the small businesses that will bring our country out of this recession. We at the Digital Development Corporation will continue to close the digital divide that has left a generation, of people of color behind, at the starting blocks. Our goal is to not look to forward, and guarantee that our youth will receive the technical training they need to compete on the world stage. We will also reach back to elder brothers and sisters to teach them to embrace the digital future
